Yes, students will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. Yes, participants are supervised 24/7, with house parents providing support during nighttime. This policy ensures a full immersion experience for all participants. All dietary preferences will be confirmed closer to the camp start date. As the course is conducted entirely in English, we recommend participants have a minimum B1 level of proficiency to fully engage in the program. Students will stay in a newly built university residence located in the city center.

Learn more advanced sewing skills including garment making and home décor. Make a shirt or dress, a beach towel bag and a room accent such as a floor pouf, or bedroom curtains. Ages 6+ will learn how to use a sewing machine to make a stuffed toy, a pair of shorts, a bag and a few self-chosen projects.
The Fashion Class
Students ages 7-17 can get a taste of collegiate life this summer at Carnegie Mellon University during these day camps and overnight camps, running from June 16 through Aug. 1. These camps mix STEM skill development and summer fun, allowing kids and teens from beginner to advanced to work alongside new friends and learn from expert tech mentors. Summer camps at Shady Side Academy, designed with working parents in mind, include before-care and free lunch. Kids from pre-K through high school will find a range of weekly camps on four campuses in Fox Chapel and Point Breeze. Sports-minded kids can focus skills on hockey, golf or tennis, while maker kids can choose hands-on STEAM camps. High school kids can take for-credit classes in art, math and science, as well as courses in essay writing and SAT/ACT prep.

JUNIOR SEWING (ages 7-8, or entering 2nd grade in the Fall) Designed for our youngest campers, and those that are new to Fashion Camp. This camp, like all of what we do here, focuses on machine sewing.
